True Confessions of a Sugar Addict

There was this weightloss coach certified in Holistic Nutrition named Zelda Sheldon, who did a detox and reached her ideal healthy weight and cured her eczema and psoriasis with a super clean diet. Pain, Pain, Go Away

The USA with all the trappings of modern life has a big problem - Pain.
In fact, more than 30% of Americans are living with some form of chronic or severe pain.

Chronic pain is pain that lasts longer than the typical healing time - in some cases beyond 1-3 months. According to the American Pain Foundation, Chronic Pain is a complex condition that affects some 42-50 million people in the USA. However, despite decades of research, chronic pain continues to increase year by year and remains not only poorly understood by the medical community but notoriously difficult to control. The New Normal

The New Normal

When life takes a sudden, strange, unexpected and unpleasant turn - such as with a pandemic, a catastrophe, a crisis or a breaking point, there comes with it a new order, a new ‘normal’.

And whether or not that ‘new unpleasant normal’ arrived completely out of your control, or it’s totally in your control - it’s still the same. A new ‘unpleasant’ normal is still ‘a new normal’.

And with it comes a whole bunch of unpleasant thoughts and feelings.

Do any of these ring true?

  • Is this just a bad dream?

  • When can I get back to normal?

  • Will I ever get over this?

  • Are we all going to die?

  • How long will I have to put up with this new normal?

  • How could I prevent this from ever happening again?

The Pursuit of Happiness

Happy International Day of Happiness Day y'all!

Yes March 20th 2020 is International Day of Happiness Day!

And although I'm in quarantine in Nashville Tennessee I’m happy.

I'm happy I’m not alone. I have my wonderful husband quarantined at home with me, which I’m happy about because today is our wedding anniversary. It’s nice to have someone at home to talk to and to eat meals with. We've been married a long time. I won’t tell you how many years - it's been decades. Our wedding anniversaries seem to be getting stranger each year.

Dear Detox Diary – Day 18

Day 18 of my Mindbody Detox and woohooo!! I’m feeling good!

Since starting my detox 18 days ago I’ve now dropped a total of three pounds (remembering that dropping 1-2 pounds a week is a healthy rate and greater chance of sustaining that drop) and I’m feeling lighter, not just in my body but also in my mind, and that’s got me so feeling good. In fact, I’m feeling so good that I want to start singing that wonderful song made famous by Nina Simone and then Michael Bublé.

Dear Detox Diary Day 14

Dear Detox Diary

It’s day 14 and I’m now over half way through my 21-Day Mindbody Detox.

It’s not exactly the detox I had in mind when I envisioned this.

After my holiday splurging on chocolates, candy, cakes and other naughty but nice foods and drinks it was definitely a welcome change.

For weeks I was so looking forward to this Mindbody Detox, yet this has been quite a challenge that I was not expecting because detoxing with a chest virus sucks!
